"Keep Christ in Christmas." “Remember the reason for the season.”
Two somewhat trite expressions. But ones that help us to focus on what is most important during this time of year.
We might be struggling to find the perfect gift for a child. We might be stressing over the cost of the gifts that we are purchasing. We might be facing job insecurity, health issues, or other problems that make us feel worse this time of year. Or we might be mourning a recent death of a loved one or the anniversary of such a death.
We might have to force ourselves to focus, but we do need to focus on the birth of Jesus Christ. That really is the best gift ever. God the Son, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, takes a human nature to his divine nature and becomes one of us. To redeem us. And to open the gates of heaven through his Resurrection.
God did not need to do this. However, out of love, God chose to do that.
Bring that reality to light in your family’s celebration this season. Talk about it. Have family traditions that focus on it. And be sure to go to church to celebrate it.
We are very thankful that you have chosen to entrust your children to us for their education and formation. They are a great source of joy on our campus. We hope that their presence in this Christian school is making a difference that you can see.
Know of my continued prayers for all of you.
