Dear Parents,
This week I went to St. Augustine with the 8th graders for a retreat at Our Lady of La Leche Shrine. Mr. Tizzano, Latin Teacher and Campus Minister at St. Francis Catholic Academy, joined us as the retreat facilitator. Fr. Bob celebrated Mass at the outside altar at the Shrine. This rustic altar is said to serve as a reminder of the Mass of Thanksgiving in 1565 which began the first permanent Christian settlement in the United States. Students had an opportunity to tour the grounds, learn more about our Catholic origins in Florida and to reflect on the important role faith has in each of our lives.
At Mass yesterday, Fr. Bob reminded all of us that God has a plan for each of us, and we must ask God to help us discern what that plan is and how best to serve Him and others. As he has quoted often, Saint Catherine of Sienna says "Be who God meant for you to be and you will set the world on fire." We encourage all of our students to form a close relationship with God, one which involves prayer and conversations with God. Doing our best to do as God teaches us, helps all of us grow in our love and respect for one another.
Yesterday we also enjoyed the school wide History Fair. There were so many great historical figures and events to share with each other. All of the students got to take turns presenting and then viewing each other's work!
Tonight, some of our students will lead the Stations of the Cross at Epiphany Catholic Church at 5:30 pm. Afterwards, the Knights of Columbus will have their last Fish Fry of Lent. Please come and join us for both! Take out meals may also be purchased.
Please remember that Wednesday, March 29th is a NOON dismissal day. After School Care will only be available until 4 pm on this day (this is when the buses leave).
Have a restful weekend.
Yours In Christ,
Rita M. Klenk
