With each passing week of the fourth quarter, I have been marveling at the speed at which the school days seem to be passing by. The Spring days are mixed with a steady flow of both sunshine and rain and the kids seem to be growing at amazing rates themselves-both physically and academically.
This Sunday, some of our eighth graders will make their Confirmation and in May, some of our second graders, their First Communion. Bishop Estevez will be celebrating the Confirmation Mass on Sunday at Epiphany, at 10:30 am. Our Bishop always has complementary things to say about our school and its families.
We have multiple field trips planned for various grade levels in the next couple of weeks. My favorite field trip is taking the altar servers to St. Augustine to the Cathedral to attend the Chrism Mass with the Bishop and the priests and religious of our diocese. At this Mass, the priests obtain the blessed oils that are used at the Catholic churches throughout the year: the Oil of Chrism for Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders, the Oil of Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick. Seeing everyone in attendance from all of the diocesan parishes and most all of the Catholic schools, to celebrate Mass together, is a joyful and prayerful time for all.
Have a restful and blessed weekend with your family. May we all enter into a quiet time of reflection as we continue through the Lenten season.
Yours In Christ,
Rita M. Klenk
